Privacy Statement for U.S. Job Applicants
Your privacy is important to General Motors Company (GM). We want you to know that Personally Identifiable Information (PII) GM collects from you will be treated with care.

GM's Privacy Statement for U.S. Job Applicants lets you know how GM handles personal information that you share with GM on the GM Careers website (http://www.gm.com/corporate/careers/usa/index.jsp), and throughout the GM hiring process for experienced professionals and new college graduates (hiring process).

Personal Information Collection and UseGM's hiring process consists of multiple steps designed to evaluate your skills and qualifications for a particular position. When you choose to participate in the GM hiring process, you will be asked to provide GM with personal information about yourself. The personal information that you provide will be used to match your skills and interest to GM job requirements. Your personal information will also be used to contact and identify you throughout the hiring process.

The following are examples of personal information that may be collected in the hiring process:
* Name
* Address
* Employment history
* Social Security Number (social security number will only be collected if an offer of employment is extended to you)
The information that you share with GM may be used by GM suppliers exclusively for the purpose of administering services in the GM hiring process. For example, GM may provide personal information about you to a supplier that will administer selection tools such as role-plays and decision challenges, or with a supplier that will perform a background verification. The information that you provide may also be shared within GM and with our business partners exclusively to conduct joint marketing programs with GM. We will not share your personal information with other third parties for their independent use without your permission.  However, nothing in this Privacy Statement prevents the disclosure of your personal information for legal compliance, or in response to government inquiries. Additionally, nothing in this Privacy Statement prevents the use of the legal process by GM or other parties.

Cookies and Other Tracking Devices
We may use cookies and other tracking devices on our websites. Using cookies on our sites provides benefits to you, such as allowing you to maintain your login information between visits. The use of cookies also allows us to measure site activity to provide a better user experience. Cookies and other tracking devices may be used to tell us the time and length of your visit, the pages you look at on our site, the site you visited just before coming to ours, and the name of your Internet service provider.
Information Security
GM recognizes the importance of safeguarding your personal information in GM's possession from theft, inappropriate use, or improper distribution.  It should, however, be recognized that no Company can perfectly protect personal information.
